As an Indian wedding planner, I’ve had the privilege of working on many incredible celebrations, but Anjali and Jay’s wedding at the Hilton Signia in Atlanta was truly one for the books. Not only was it the first Indian wedding hosted at this iconic hotel, but it also featured Grah Shanti and Pithi, Music Night, Wedding Ceremony, and Reception. This wedding was a blend of tradition, fun, and modern elegance. It was an honor to help bring their vision to life.
It wasn’t without its challenges, though! From hosting a baraat right next to the Mercedes-Benz Stadium to navigating a brand-new venue, this wedding pushed me to think creatively and plan meticulously.
The Hilton Signia is a stunning venue, and hosting its first-ever Indian wedding was a milestone for both the hotel and me as a planner. Its grand ballrooms, modern amenities, and elegant interiors provided the perfect setting for this multi-day celebration. But as the first Indian wedding there, it also required extra coordination to ensure every detail fit seamlessly into the space.
Anjali and Jay’s wedding had all the hallmarks of a beautiful Indian celebration, but we added a few unexpected twists to make it truly unique. Here’s how it all came together.
The Grah Shanti and Pithi ceremonies are typically spiritual events, but we added a fun, modern twist to make it special. During the mameru (gift-giving ceremony), the family turned the space into an impromptu dance floor! Watching everyone let loose and celebrate was one of my favorite moments.
Music Night is always a highlight, and we made sure Anjali and Jay’s was unforgettable. To get everyone involved, we handed out colorful tambourines, which added a playful touch and got the crowd moving. The setup featured bold colors, candlelights, and a stage for live performances. I worked closely with the entertainment team to keep the energy high and ensure every detail—music, lighting, and flow—was just right.
The wedding ceremony was breathtaking, with Anjali and Jay exchanging vows under a gorgeous mandap adorned with fresh flowers and soft drapery. Indian wedding ceremonies involve many intricate rituals, and I worked closely with the officiant to ensure everything flowed seamlessly. Every element was carefully chosen to reflect their personalities while staying true to Indian traditions.
The reception was the perfect ending to an amazing wedding. With a mix of Indian elegance and modern sophistication, the décor set the stage for an evening of heartfelt speeches, delicious food, and non-stop dancing. I made sure the program ran smoothly, from the couple’s grand entrance to the last song on the dance floor. It was a night to remember.
A Baraat by the Mercedes-Benz Stadium: One of the biggest challenges was organizing Jay’s baraat right next to the iconic Mercedes-Benz Stadium. This wasn’t just a bold request, it was the first baraat ever held at this location. To make it happen, I had to navigate city regulations, secure special permits and insurance, and coordinate logistics with multiple teams. It was a lot of work, but seeing Jay’s dream come to life made it all worthwhile.
Adapting to a New Venue: Being the first Indian wedding at the Hilton Signia came with its own set of challenges. I spent a lot of time working closely with the hotel staff to map out logistics, coordinate vendor schedules, and ensure the venue was ready to handle a large-scale event like this. Every little detail, from timing to setup, had to be perfect and it was!
Indian weddings are my passion. They’re not just events—they’re experiences filled with love, tradition, and joy. I thrive on bringing families together, blending cultural rituals with modern touches, and creating memories that last a lifetime. Anjali and Jay’s wedding reminded me why I do what I do. It was challenging but also incredibly rewarding to see everything come together in such a spectacular way.
